MSD Distributor/External Ignition Module??

Or it could be the gremlin of the honda distributor.
i'm so confused then why MSD states the distributor will work with factory ECU????? I know the distributor has a trigger circuit for aftermarket ECUs, but i am throughly confused why it says it will work with factory ecus if the techs are stating otherwise. I guess i'll send MSD an email and find out.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I think it will work with the factory ecu with a msd ignition it just won't work directly with the ecu.

as in buy all of the required coil, ignition module & distributor and it will work?
any idea if its required to have the new coil or if you can use any of the other blasters?

the plugs looked very good actually and we changed the gap several times and we are now at .025. the wires look good and as I said before we changed the wires as well with the stock distributor and it still misfired just as bad

I would think that any of there coils would work, but coil selection would depend on your setup of course.

thanks,
so is the stock OEM honda distributor is a sin pickup right? I did a little more reading and i believe OEM honda is SIN and the external module on this one is a HALL pickup, therefore if you have an EMS that can use HAL, then you might not need the external ignition module, but if you do not have this feature option to run full HAL, then you do need the external ignition module.
That's my guess at this time, i have a question out to MSD regarding if its compatable with factory ECU, the conversion to OBD1 would just be be moving the second plug with RPM & black/yellow coil power wire to the main plug since OBD2 has one plug over the two plugs obd1 has.

Sorry to bring up an old post But I have a question about the stock distributor and msd.
No ecu, carburated, b16 distributor. The magnetic pickup in the distributor isn't enugh for the msd 6al? MSD needs a hall effect sensor for sure? Would a 4 cyl. ford hall effect sensor work?
This would be the MSD going off the distributor only, no ecu.
