i wrecked my eg a few months back, now im currently getting ready to purchase a si. the si im looking at is a 2000 with 49k miles. thats alot of miles on a 2000 and im worried, but the car has been certified and it has no scratches or dings. my question is in the long run will i need to do an engine swap so i can apply a turbo kit. can a turbo kit be applied with an engine running 90k miles. or with 49k miles is it still condsidered new? when does a engine with a turbo wear down?
I wouldn't worry about the 49K miles. I would prefer a 2000 with 49K miles or more miles, than a 98 or 97 with 49k miles. The 2000 probably has highway miles. I drove 99's with 85k that drove much better than than 97's and 98's with 50k and 60k.
Try to look at the interior and exterior of the car to get a feel of who had it before, if you don't know the previous owner. Look for signs of excessive wear, which you shouldn't have at all. A 2000 even with 49k should still look new inside and out.
I buy used cars at auctions every week (about 20-30 a month) and I would worry at all of the 49k, if it looks new.
