Default Mounting Precision Medium FMIC

So ive started my project....i have a precision medium FMIC, although im sure most of you guys know that it does NOT have tabs to mount it...what a pain up the ***. although there are 2 holes on each side of the end tank for a stud to go through..... hmm...i was thinking about finding the size of that stud...put it in. After that weld that stud onto the bumper or weld that stud to a bracket that is mounted on the bumper...

those of you w. FMICs without Tabs....please post pics of your set up or give me some ideas...

Thanks

i had so many pictures of how i mounted mine but my computer crashed. its real hard to explain, but i used L shaped brackets, some cut dirtbike handlebars and some bolts. had to cut my bumper support to make this work though. ill see if i can find some pictures on my brothers computer and get back to you.

found one but you cant really tell how its mounted, but this gives you an idea of how you will have to cut the bumper support

^^^ exaclty what i used, except i mounted it to the bumper support. i just cut out peices of a hollow tube ( dirtbike handlebar ) to put between the bracket and the bumper support. so when i tightened down the bracket it didnt bend upward or rip out the threads on the intercooler itself.

i was too lazy to cut my support beam so i took it off, used the 2 bolt holes on each side, bolted up a stainles plate and mig welded support bars that boled to the fmic.

I welded two 90 degree tabs on the top of mine, and cut about 2" out of the bottom of the bumper support, and hung it from there with some SS hardware. I wanted to keep my support as intact as I could, and that let me do it without completely ditching it.

if it fits into the original bumper"mouth" why not drill little holes into the ic lowest and top plate and use screws to screw it into the bumper? (that is if your ic doesn't weigh a ton!)

If your bumper is holding up your IC, you're asking for it. Bumps, train tracks, everyday driving will make that thing bounce if it isnt bolted to the car. Couplers will loosen and fall off, if not tear. Just a dumb idea, take your time and bolt it. Either use the holes on it, or make some tabs.

You may not have to. If you turn the fmic so the endtanks have the holes facing up, or oppisite of how all these pics show, you may be able to route the piping over the fog lights. There is a thread about it somewhere, try searching for a while, I know its out there.
