In a motor build I see a lot of difference in torque with similar hp ratings .... For example people running right around 400hp.... I've seen some with around 200ft/lb and some with over 300ft/lb .... How do you get the higher tq ratings on your build?

 

Faster spooling turbo, lower RPM when peak HP is reached, more stroke (LS/B20/GSR stroke differences). These things will affect the peak torque numbers.

 

Absolutely. This is why it is key to pick the correct turbocharger to gain torque in addition to proper displacement. If you change displacement, don't just do Bore alone. Bore and stroke are what make the biggest differences.

 

My stock LS setup made close to 300 ft-lbs because the turbo was at 20psi before 4000rpm
