more HP than torque
how come i see lots of turbocharged honda engines having more hp rating than torque rating i.e. 245whp then 178lb ft, while there are some that their hp and torque rating are not far off and a few that got more torque than hp. is it because of the low torque to start with or smaller displacement? or probably wastegate opening too soon? any ideas?

Re: more HP than torque (_Endless_)
It's about displacement and stroke, my B16A will always have alot lower torque then say an H22A, DLB1944 made 337whp and 313 ft-lb torque I made 500whp and 333 ft-lb torque. It's I believe about stroke, the B16A has a really short stroke and you can rev it really high and must to get the max power out of it, I made 243whp and 176 ft-lb with 9 psi back in the day then 321whp and 253 ft-lbs with 18 psi then 370whp and 273 ft-lb, my thoughts on this is you will always at least with a Honda motor due to bore and stroke and R/S ratio hit your peak torque way before you hit your peak horsepower numbers, I think I hit my peak torque at like 7000rpms but peak torque at 9000rpms, hp will keep climbing but torque will start to level off or fall off up high. Oposite is true with BIG V8s where they have more torque than horsepower they usually hit peak torque low like 2500-3000 rpms but only rev to say 5500-6500rpms. I'm sure someone will chime in with more technical and/or educated answer. Oh yeah alot has to do with cams and head flow characteristics was it designed for low o mid or mid to high end. HTH.
