Default Mishimoto Rad caps

Long story short, have had a Mishimoto radiator for 3-4 years now. The original cap leaked from the get go and felt "loose". Got another one and now its starting to do the same thing after about a year. I can get a few runs out of it before it starts pushing coolant out. Can anyone recommend another cap that will fit? Does a factory Honda cap fit?

Edit: Skunk2 Sells Type A and B. Type A is what we want for most aftermarket rads and earlier Hondas. Type B is the same style as newer Hondas.

from my experience/research all caps are the same the only exception would be the koyo, if you go on ebay in type in 1.3 bar cap there are several choices.

my cxracing and skunk2 radiators both used a honda style cap, which is pretty much exactly the same as a mishimoto rad from what I have seen.

Myself I believe mishimoto is rebranded chinese parts for most their stuff

just curious I was checking out your build you have been running this cooling setup with mishimoto fan?

this skunk2 cap listing shows that it works with most hondas as I suspected

I'm P sure the OE Honda cap will NOT fit a genuine Mishimoto rad.

I say this because my Mishimoto cap was hitting the hood. I tried switching it for the lower profile OEcap but it wouldn't fit. I had to clearance the hood with a mallet to get it to clear. You sure your hood isn't bashing the cap when you close it? What chassis. Mine was hitting on an EG hatch with ZERO front end damage.

Stock cap did not fit on mine, the stock cap was smaller and wouldn't fit on the radiator neck. It was however the same cap as my 07 rmz250 so I stole that one to test.

Cut the neck off and weld a larger one that'll accept a moroso rad cap. Quick fix and the caps work well.

Mishimoto web site only lists 2 different size caps, have you tried calling them?

Just ordered the Skunk2 Type A cap. That is what is needed for most aftermarket rads.

Call Mishimoto and let them know what issues you are having. Their radiators carry a lifetime warranty.

All they are going to do is send another shitty cap that will do the same thing in another 3 years or less. At best another radiator if you beg hard enough.
Solution, or bandaid?

Yeah, not really willing to play that game. Research shows this is not uncommon to have their caps fail and the solution is always go with a different brand so that's the route I'm going this time.
