Just don't use an aluminum adapter plate...there's a few people who make them for a little under $100, otherwise you will have to get your machine shop to fab one up.
Also, you won't be boosting when your engine isn't under a load (ie WOT), that's a common myth, so no worries there.
I personally hate FMUs because of their semi-harsh transition into boost, having to use check valves, pushing crazy fuel pressure, and you can't tune it, but if you use one, make sure you upgrade your fuel pump (Walbro 255lph HP).
I'm personally going AFC+450cc injectors myself, much better setup, I can tune it with a wideband, don't have to use check valves, and keep stock fuel pressure.

You can get 450's at any junkyard, partstrader, ebay, everywhere for no more than $50.
Don't know about FMU settings, like I said I don't like FMUs
Home depot doesn't have any, If I were you I'd buy one pre-fab'd, because it will end up costing the same or more if you buy the block and have it machined.

Heres the plate. Their site also has tons of info on piecing together a junk yard turbo kit. I've personally met these guys and their very cool and honest.
