Default Minimum laptop requirements for tuning Uberdata?

Quick questions:

-what all connections will I be utilizing with Uberdata? Can I just use the serial (for chipping) and floppy (for installing Uberdata and bins), or do I need USB?

Here's some laptops I've been scoping out:

My wallet really likes the old-*** Dell with a floppy and 8mb HD for $65.

This laptop is SOLELY for tuning. I have a computer here in my apartment and in my office so I have no need for a laptop other than for that purpose.

I would not even try the dell 8 megs ram will not cut it, get that hp for 100 at minimum. I am currently using an IBM thinkpad 133mhz with 80megs of ram I got for $40, its slow refreshing between maps and saving but it works and it also datalogs just fine. I also have to use a pcmcia usb card for my moates burner which usualy works but can be unreliable. The biggest drawback with any old laptop will be that using 800x600 resolution is a pain, you cant fit the whole map on the screen so you have to scroll side to side and the bottom rpm column on the lo map can only barely be accessed if I move the task bar. Some buttons on the bottom or far right of the settings tabs cannot be accessed either but those can be setup first on your home pc.

I think I'm going to go with the above selection.

Tell me though, what cables do I need to hook up the ECU to my laptop?

Serial? USB? I don't think this laptop supports USB, it's old.

If the computer can run Windows 98 and you have a serial port you are fine. The specs to run such a small program like Uberdata is next to nothing if you have Windows 98 running as an OS.

...wrong

Datalogging is easily done with serial and so is chip burning.

So I can get that Nokia cable from Radioshack?

I'm looking to use a PLX-M300 wideband with this setup. Any pointers on install/usage?
