which MIG welder would you get?
I have narrowed it down to 3 welders...2 are from craftsman and 1 is form Hobart. I know hobart has a good reputation, but it's comparable to the cheaper crasftman with the price of the more expensive version...I don't think the cheaper craftsman version comes with a gas regulator...which will be an extra 100 bucks

I'm stuck with one of these 3 because I have to use my Sears card to purchase it....which do you think would weld better and do heavier work?

I was thinking about that too, but the welder in the the 3rd link(the more expensive craftsman)can weld thicker metal with less effort also....
but the hobart does come with a handy little cart

oh and guys, for the record, don't tell me to get a TIG machine...I am in the future, but not right now.

hobart handler is an excellent machine for light / medium duty you will find it in many personal garages and also for light duty in many shops. i am a certified welder and now a sheet metal designer, i have lots of experiance..

IMO Hobart is the way to go out of those three choices. You have to ask yourself, how thick of metal do you really need to weld? Everything i mig is usually thin gauge piping, so as long as its gas not flux core mig the welds hold up just fine for my own useage. I wish i would have just went with a tig welder from the start, but a decent mig set-up will get your feet wet to see if welding is for you.
