Custom pistons are not much more than stocking pistons.Usually they don't include the wrist pins. Most people that go with a custom piston upgrade into a tool steel pin anyway so they don't include the inexpensive pins.

The most I have seen is Endyn. Of course we're only doing Endyn and Wiseco pistons for all our customers. I have yet to see CP up close, but comparing JE, SRP, and others, the Endyn have the most valve relief...

The more meat you have around the valve reliefs, the smaller the valve relief is and therefore the more chance you have to knock a valve into the piston. It is all based on the bore of the piston, the position of the valves in the head and the size of the relief. Nothing to do with extra meat around the reliefs. If the tune-up is correct, you will never hurt the top of the piston, no matter what the relief size is.
