Default Maximum Boost by Corky Bell

I recently bought the book yesterday and starting reading. Good stuff! I highly recommend the book to those learning, wondering, and in awe about turbocharging. It cost me about $37 at my local Barnes & Noble (I got raped!), but I feel it's 37 dollars well spent. The book goes into great detail about everything to installing turbo kits to intercooling to wastegates and so on. Well written, very understandable. After recently installing my first turbo kit on a 93 5.0, alot of the stuff I did makes sense.... now to just to build that 5.0, and hopefully the Si I just might get.

yes, it is a great book and many of us have either read it or at least heard of it. But keep in mind that as great as it is, it's just a guide. There are things that are specific to turbo imports that may not be true for turbo domestics. just verify your info in the book with the info here on the board. Most of it is fine, but there is just some small issues that are different.

The downside of this book is that sometimes clowns get their hands on the book and think they know everything that is to be known about turbo's. I remember that one guy going on and on about how twin turbo'ing his D series would be so much better then a single and related it all to the stuff corky bell wrote. Theory's are nice, but sometimes they dont always hold true when it comes to the engineering perspective of things in the real world.

Completely agree with you, Gudeh23a and symba. I guess it takes a decently educated person to understand that its really a guide, not a bible. The next plan is to single turbo a Saleen, and maybe my friend's SR20. I have my heart set on a GSR-t powered Si, for torque reasons, but I'm in love with all turbo'd fast cars. Here's a pic of the 5.0 engine bay. Those are T3s. No numbers yet. Oh yea, the engine bay is alot more clean now. (moved/hid wires, moved battery to trunk, sandblasted and waitin to powdercoat stuff)

No internals yet, just 6 sometimes 8 lbs of V8 boost. This thing is a torque God!

However, it's funny you mention 347 and new heads. Because you might as well have added, forged pistons, rods, custom ground cam, new intake manifold, twin t3/t4e ,25 lbs of boost , and an EMS. I'll keep y'all updated. Right now it's a 12 sec Stang because of traction problems. With slicks, 11s. It's got KYB Fully Adjustables, Ford Racing Springs, injectors, Steeda fuel pump, MSD 6AL, no a/c (wouldn't fit with current exhaust manifolds). I'll say this, the owner likes to have fun!
