Default Max rev manifold Cracked

I guess the max rev manifold wasn't designed with the intention of using a wastegate elbow to clear the hood. Its been roughly a month that I have been using the elbow and have been steadily noticing the sound of an exhaust leak. Looked under the hood today and noticed the wastegate flange is coming off at the weld to the manifold. the weld is cracked the length of the weld. I'm going to fix it and my question is should I:

1: Re-weld the wastegate flange the way it was
or
2: Replace the wastegate elbow with a stainless one and weld it directly to the manifold, effectively removing one flanged joint and leaving only the one where the wastegate will bolt to the new elbow

I think option 2 would be easier but not sure if it will decrease the resale value of the manifold. Thoughts? BTW I'll get some pics when I get time to fix it.

I think you're just looking for a reason to use your T/A.

Did you post this on the Hobart board?

I would just remove the wastegate flange all together, and weld the stainless elbow onto the manifold. Most people who own the max rev manifolds seem to want the elbow adapater since the wastegate is so close to the hood. Welding the elbow to the manifold should be straight forward, so alike metals with the same gauge thickness. 150-160 amps with 1/8" 308 filler rod should do the trick.

No, i didn't post it on there. The only reason I wouldn't weld the elbow direclty to the manifold is if it will negatively effect the resale value of the manifold. I think it would make for a cleaner fix and a much more sound repair, but I don't plan on keeping this thing forever. ****, I even have a box of stainless elbows sitting in my garage. Guess i just answered my own question.

reweld the flange the way it is anfd then make a brace for the elbow.

I think I would do what Colin said.

Had the same problem on a friend's car that I put together...been fine ever since I rewelded it, though.

ok...definitely the added moment that cause it to crack then. try bracing with some 304 ss.
