you should be asking how much power can it handle...

 

210 on stock internals for me yo. 10.5 psi on a t25

 

my friend was running 13lb with a t3 on his d15

 

250whp is good... 300whp is pushing it...

I have a stock D16 y8 vtech engine in a 96 civic ex running on a auto transmission. I am
Putting a turbo kit on and was wondering what PSI would be save to run at with out any other mods?

 

Also for a performance camshaft and pistons what would you guys recommend?

 

It's vtec.. v-tech is a company that makes phones. I think, instead of spending that money on building a motor, you should spend some of it on converting it over to a 5 speed first. Otherwise, 10 psi will suffice for stock internals.

 

I run 16psi on my stock Y7 every day, but that means nothing unless I tell you which turbo I'm running... which conveniently you didn't tell us.

Your y8 will be just fine it's that auto trans that is going to bust wayyyy before your motor does.

Better start saving up for a manual trans asap.

 

you can boost 30lb with ease.

 

you better plan on some back up trannys because honda autos dont like turbos. I put 3 of them in my boosted honda crv in three months. it got a little costly

 

i got 10psi on my d16z6 daily driver on a t3 turbo...plenty of power...right around 210whp

 

I would agree for reliability 210 whp is the max from my own research and what my car is at. Technically 209.5 whp. Max boost is set to 10lbs. I think the better question as mentioned is what turbo do we run, at what PSI, and what whp do we have. And yes you will need a manual tranny before the turbo, or have the auto rebuilt for turbo but that gets $$$ and fast.

10psi is what I see most, usually any stock 16 valves d series can make around 200-215whp on 10 pound with a t3t4 50 trim or something similar to it. good luck

 

if I may ask..what turbo are you running? And do you run stock internals as well? Any specific recommendations for parts? I have a 1997 EX. Looking to turbo but gotta rebuild first..new gaskets rods and pistons. It's my daily but needs some loving before I boost it.

 

Like they all said its not the boost...
(Fyi all stock single cam s weak rods can only do about 183whp reliable...Period)
