if you run low boost your stock map will work

basicly your map sensor reads the amount of pressure in the manifold so it can tell how much air the motor is taking in and adjust timing and fuel acordingly

if you have a chipped ecu and need to replace your stock one becouse its broken or just not able to read the extra boost your dumping in then pick a new one up there cheap and easy to install

Without this sensor, things go haywire, such as sputtering, misfire and bacskfiring, ruinning extremely rich, poor gas mileage, and lots of smoke, from the richness of the mix. It also can foul spark plugs, and leave a nice layer of soot on your back bumper/trunk.
