I prefer MBCs. they help with spool, are cheaper, simpler, and art just more my style.

like you said, an EBC is just another piece of equip. that can go bad.

I've went with both and although my manual boost controller does creep slightly, I still prefer it over my Greddy profec that I used to use.

Blitz SBC or a greddy profect B 2 those are what I would use

hallman makes good MBC's also. I got mine for like $30 from someone.

hallman also has one you can adjust from inside the car. Too much $$ for me thought.

a homemade or cheap mbc's will creap, but I have heard good things about the hallman, turboxs, tvvc, and whatnot more expensive quality units.

The difference is clear:

mbc pros: cheap

mbc cons: hard to accurately adjust; creep; few have in cabin access; open wastegate too early

ebc pros: easy to accurately adjust; less prone to creep; cabin access; open wastegate at last possible moment; more options

ebc cons; higer priced

then there's the homemade electric/manual boost controller that is always worth the 10$ in parts. I'm sure you've all heard the theory and the technique(map sensor purge valve thingy w/ little brass bleeder valves and a button or rpm switch to activate different boost setting) I have to say It works pretty good!

im not sure where all these creep problems associated with a MBC are coming from...you guys are probably using ones with a bleed type valve instead of the ball and spring....IMO Hallman makes anout the best MBC..ive got one of the new ones with cockpit controll and its a really nice piece. they are just as easy to adjust as a EBC which the **** inside the car.

ive had better boost responce and control with a MBC..i would realy reccomending getting a hallman too.

friend had the turboXS high performace model on this greddy kit. it did creep so he sold it. thought the high performance was suppose to hold boost better?

alot of the profec B are gettting cheaper now because the spec II came out.

My car spooled my big twins a good 300 RPM's sooner with my profec-b than it did with a turboXS. Problem with MBC's is they will slowly allow boost to reach the wastegate spring/diaphragm which causes it to slowly creep open which causes slower spool. IMHO if you're running a tight budget and a fairly small turbo go with a MBC but if you have a lil more cash and a bigger turbo go EBC for sure.

I had an AVCR and it was a bitch to deal with. So I got a Turbonetics manuel boost controller and it works great. Held 23lbs with no problems!

i have a blitz dual sbc, but had made a mbc and it is working quite well at 14 psi on my friends sr20. i used to use one on my buick at 26 psi but its an automatci and no gear changes. so creep wasnt a problem. i know of alot of people using ball and spring style controllers.

im gonna have to disagree on the profec b gettin cheaper, people on here sell them used for $250 which is too much, you can get it new for $300, if i could find one for like $175 which is about what its worth used i might pick it up, otherwise im gonna go hallman mbc.........

Hallman definitely makes a good boost controller, I would definitely recommend it. I know a lot of the dsm guys will not use anything else. I would say that mbc is the way to go. The only thing that electronic boost controllers have over mbc's is that some of them can be rpm sensative. So you can run different amounts of boost at different rpm. For the money a mbc is the way to go.

An EBC is going to operate of an electronic solenoid, which I'm going to say is not going to last as long, as is going to wear harder than a mechanical solution.
