Default manifold bolts keep backing out

these freaking bolts, no matter what i do, they keep backing out of the turbo manifold and causing me to loose boost and rip the metal gasket apart. They mount inverted and i can only get one nut on due to the design of the manifold. So far i've tried high grade steel Cap Allen head fasteners and thread lock, and I still lost another two.. And these [freak]ers are tight.. 100lbs + ..

suggestions??

Have you tried lock washers? I had the same problem forever. I finally used the highest grade bolts I could buy plus the 2nd highest grade of locktight and then lock washers. I have no more problems with the bolts backing out.

I feel your pain, I just went through this and ended up with warped manifold flange. Be careful with 100 ft/lbs on a 12m MM nut. I snapped a stud off before and had a hell of a time getting it out.

Right now I am running on hi-temp thread lock and lock washers. Probably more like 40ft lbs. No problems yet :crosses fingers:

Something that was suggeted was to drill and safety wire each stud. Another suggestion was super hi-temp aerospace-grade thread locker, but I can only find it in quarts

If you can stud the manifold then use nuts and lock washers with red locktight on there shouldnt have a problem. Also hard to find but there are bolts out there that are kind of like a pipe thred and get wider toward the hex head so they lock in place. thats what saab uses on all their factory turbo cars and nothing loosens up

there are 2 things that works for sure.
1. studs
2 drill holes in the head of some high grade bolt, if you have a manifold that is not threaded and require the use of nut, get some wing washers so you can fold the wings over the nuts so the wont move.
when I use to work on bradleys they require this all the time.
