Default making a turbo more efficent, is it possible??

I'm just wondering, if it is possible to make an inefficient turbo more efficient without actually replacing the turbo. I have a ct-26 from a mk3 supra and my h22a just doesn't generate enough of a load in first and second gear to fully spool it to 7 psi or even 5 psi. are there any things I could do the turbine blades or the housing or anything to help it spool more efficiently? Thanks guys

you can clip the wheels, but that will limit your ultimate power output in sacrifice for spool. I wouldnt recommend it.

I've heard of clipping the wheels, but am not too familiar with this. HOw does this actually work again?

just did some research on this technique, but I'm still wondering, would this help me to attain a full 7 psi in first and second gear? Again, I'm using a ct-26 from an mk3 supra and my power seems to kinda flatten out after vtec. I'm not so sure if it would give me more lag, but in fact help me out cuz now I can actually have more exhaust flow when vtec kicks in, but at the same time, I'm just wondering if I will be able to actually hit the full boost that the internal wastegate is set at!!

you will not reach full boost unless you engine has a load. i think i boost only 3psi in frst gear, my mbc is set at 6psi. i do reach full boost in second. i noticed quicker spool when i hooked the wg up to my intake mani. you can get a freer flowing exhaust if you dont already. or ditch the cat.

The blades are actually cut slightly and turned at a slightly different angle, I believe about 10 degrees in most cases.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's what done. I don't remember if it's the turbine or compressor side though.

Two possible ways to "clip" a turbo:

1 - trim the tips off the turbine (exhaust) side wheel to "simulate" a larger A/R turbine housing. Slower spool, less restriction on exhaust - possibly more top-end.

2 - trim the tips off the compressor wheel to reduce rotating mass - SLIGHTLY faster spool but almost certainly less efficient (will have to turn faster to make same boost/flow).

I suggest if you really need to get boost in low gears either pick a better turbo or put nitrous on for a pre-boost punch.

so would clipping help my situation? I mean, I can't really generate enough load for this turbo so is there any other way besides getting a different turbo or using nitros??

How are you controlling your boost? If you're using the wastegate a boost controller should help.

I'm using the stock internal wastegate which is set to 7 psi...only problem is that my engine can't get the turbo to spool to 7 psi!!! haha. So that's my problem.
