To LSD or To not LSD
I planning to have a car with close to 250ftlbs or torque. I have a boosted b18b1 with forged internals but stock head, and i'm leaving the head stock for right now. So with that being said its going to be rev lim. at 7200rpm. Since its going to be low end torque, I'm choosing to stick with the LS tranny because of the longer gears. So my question is this. To add LSD to it or not. I did buy some carbon synchro's and those are going in, but I cant decide if its worth it to get an LSD for it or not. If money wasnt an issue then I wouldnt worry about it but it will cost close to $900 for the LSD. It comes down to the pro's and con's I suppose. What are the chances that I blow up the tranny without it? Will I be able to launch without it or is that too dangerous?
That's like asking.. Do I want to control the car, or not to have control. "Blowing up the transmission" is going to be determined by YOU, and you're ability to act appropriately for controlling the car.
BTW "Longer gearing" for turbocharging is not the reasoning for keeping the LS transmission. That's an old myth. "Being in boost longer" means nothing if you're not accelerating.... Having that said, in your case with a full stock LS, your transmission choice is fine.
Also, do us a favor, and keep all these big questions you have in ONE thread.. You have 2 threads on here, so don't make anymore for a bit. We're here to help, but keep the number of threads limited.

To add to my previous statement:
My car makes 285wtq and spools fairly quick...without an LSD, i can barely hook up on the street (under ~50mph) unless i'm using drag radials. DR's can help out, but they're not a miracle cure. Even though i dont get massive wheel-spin, torque steer still is a factor
