Rain delay. Insane storm just kicked our ***, I'm glad I didn't try to drive it there tonight, the roads turned into rivers in a matter of seconds. I've never seen that around here. Downpipe is done, fits, just needs a tiny adjustment to stop it from hitting the block. Now I have to find allen-head style bolts to bolt the thing up. Other than that it's ready.

How would you drive there without a downpipe fitted anyways if you were to have made your scheduled time slot?
Couldnt CAA a tow?

My scheduled time slot is tomorrow, I was dropping it off in their night drop. The shop is less than 5 miles from where the car sits. If I couldn't afford a tow, I wouldn't have this thread here.

yea driving isn't such a great idea
besides staining everything underhood with carbon residue (that doesn't come off once it's set/dry) you'd risk damaging the radiator, radiator hoses, etc.

Thank you Shodan, got them already. Downpipe is on, car is at the shop. Unfortunately it won't be done until Tuesday because of the holiday weekend. The suspense is killing me. Car drove fine the whole ride there other than the ridiculous harmonic sound from the vibrations at certain rpm. Have to figure out what it is, I have a feeling it is the radiator, or the IC piping. Car never went over 195*F, never below 12psi oil pressure. Never got it over 3,000rpm. Took all of 10 minutes.

I've built countless motors. the lowest I've had a motor idle might be 18-20psi but I don't run stock pumps, every oil passage was enlarged and such.

whether it was on my first teg's b18b1 or on my second one regardless of whether it was the stock b18c5 or piston/rod setup, mine have always been between 22 in/hg and 24 in/hg..

Got the car there, they told me the downpipe was leaking and wasn't fitted properly. They had to make some minor tweaks to the manifold, and I ended up going with a new downpipe 2.5 inch diameter that fits much better. It's at the shop still, waiting for the dyno tune. Should have it by Monday.

Just got a text from RC Autoworks, it's on the dyno. Has some boost leak issues at the IC piping where I had to make cuts and is no longer bead rolled. They're working on replacing/repairing those leaks currently. Waiting for results

So you aren't gonna be there when they tune it?
I'd never let my car get on a dyno and me not be present just in case there's a problem.

^ that. thats worth taking off work in my opinion, possibly equivalent to your child being in the hospital and you waiting for the nice doctor with the lap top to make everything all better

My work schedule conflicts, I can't be there. I trust them fully though, they have never steered me wrong. Plus they are still ironing out issues for me. I will get to see it's final pulls once it's all dialed in. Just got a text that it's not going into vtec anymore, and oil pressure is between 5-8 at idle and won't go above 40 in high rpm. I think I may have to take it back from them and remove the pan and check the bearing clearances. I may even replace the oil pump. Going to check the vtec solenoid as well, had a slight leak there. Won't know much more until tomorrow.

Not sure what me being there has to do with the oil pressure. It's obviously a problem somewhere, whether it happened to me, or them, it was still an underlying issue waiting to surface. I'm not too worried about it, they pulled back when they saw a problem instead of trying to bandaid it and get my tune done and shipping the car back to me. Rather find out now than go full throttle on the dyno with an oil pump on its way out, or bearings that are about to take a ****.
I'm going to stop by there on lunch tomorrow and talk to them. There are a few things I want to check while I'm there. Who knows, the oil pressure sensor sending unit could have come loose, the line could be crimped, etc. Once he saw the problem he stopped and packed it up for the night. They stayed late today for me trying to get it done. Hell they could get to it tomorrow and discover something simple and my problems could be fixed.
For now, I'll keep an optimistic attitude and we'll take it from there.

Yep.. once I get the car back home it's going to be replaced, and I'm going to check bearing clearances. My only question is why would it fail just a few miles after a turbo install, that hasn't even seen boost? I drove the car without issue for a while before putting the turbo on. Vtec always engaged, now it won't.
My guess is either clogged oil pickup from metal shavings, or something got into the oil pump and caused it to go out. I'm also going to remove the vtec solenoid, change the seals and clean the screen out. I'm actually not upset with the findings at all, I'd rather it get done right and not blow up

theres alot of things that could of went wrong. for example running to rich one lean . not saying you did. also its a used oil pump. i would be more concern of the bearing going bad, good luck on the issue though.

if oil pressure is only 5psi at idle and won't go above 40 you probably already have bearing/journal damage as well as potential damage to the cam journals.
5-8psi isn't enough pressure to maintain an oil film between metal surfaces.
if oil pressure was fine before then bearing clearances have **** all to do with the current oil pressure problem. either the pump failed, broke, the bypass failed, the pickup came loose, no gasket between pickup and pump, something clogged the pickup, etc.
I bet when you check the head that the journals are scored and there's going to be some amount of bearing material in the pan.
