ls/vtec setup help
I have a ls turbo and now i am going ls/vtec heres my setup. I need to know what crompession it will be and will it be good for boost or shoudl i run higher compression.
b18b block stock bore
b16 head(stock with b16a jdm cams)
dont know what headgasket to run
je 9:1 compression b16 pistons
ls eagle rods
will this be a good setup
im hoping for 160-180whp allmotor and 300 on boost
I just dont know what compression the motor will be with the b16 9:1 pistons though
i was thinking something around 9.2:1 or somhting like that

B16 pistons never came 9.0:1, you may need to calculate what compression you're somewhat around by using zealautowerks calculator. It isn't the most accurate, but it works. According to them, you're over 11.0:1. A little high for turbocharging, but it depends upon what you plan to manage it with, and what you're goals are. $64,000 question--- So are you saying that you have OEM b16 P30 pistons? or that you have aftermarket low compression pistons that originally CAME from a B16 that are now 9.0:1? (same 81.00mm bore)
Once you've stated that more clearly, it will be easier to determine what static compression you're at. If you're planning on going onto boost, don't worry about the N/A numbers as they won't represent what you're trying to achieve anyway. I know that in MI people want to dual purpose everything to get the best bang for the buck, but keep focused on what you're plans are for the turbocharger project.
And for heaven's sake, don't wimp out on the better turbo equipment made for hondas like these junkyard scavengers on Xceedspeed. Get a goal, stay with that goal, and think about HOW you want this power goal delivered. Many people on Xceed get so side tracked with how cheap something is that they found that they don't think about whether or not it will work for their project in the long run.
Plenty of people on H-T here go by the sponsors on this site and have the right equipment the first time.

i checked on zeal and ffsquad
but yeah im using pistons that were made for the b16 block that are 9:1 compression
they are not oem by any means.
I forget the numbers but with ls rods i was a little over 9:1 on the ls/vtec setup

i also woudl think 11:1 wouldnt be too high if i ran e85 which im planning on running
e85-do 650cc injectors sound right or too small
i dont want to push it too much but im looking for 350whp or something around their on the stock bore

I went by the OEM B16 P30 specifications. In your case, 9.0:1 is 9.0:1 whether it was b16 or B18. You're probably about 9.3:1-9.4:1. Either way, fine for turbocharging.
650cc injectors on E85 has little chance of 300whp. Hit about 880 or ID 1000s to make sure. then just have them tuned until you get the power you want.
