idk i was running 20psi on my LS i tuned on the street with a GT3082R. didn't sping in 1st but it broke the tires loose for abt 10ft going from 1st to 2nd but that was the only time it really spun unless i went from a dig then it just spun all the way throught 3rd. here are some pics of the BFG's i had on my SI's and then the MT's on the SI's

here are the MT's

BFG's

if you don't beat on them you might be able to get somewhere around or more of the 15K mark. depending on how much you drive will depend on how many months they last. 15K to me means abt 2 months worth of DD. 17" BFG's are an upgrade to what you have now but they aren't gonna hook like 15's will due to the sidewall. in order for me to hook i keep my DR's at 15-20psi all the time. or if i'm going on a long long trip i'll put them to 25-30

i do run slicks sometimes on the street... every muscle car around here runs slicks 100% of the time on the street. but theyre rwd.. although i dont like to much because i turn with my front wheels..not that they rub or anything..

looks like ill probably try the MT DR's next..

bigbadboy: did you notice any difference between the bfgs and mt dr's ??

thanks</TD></TR></TABLE>

two pages of responses and not one person answered his question. Traction bars dont really help you hook up no, they prevent wheel hop by keeping the LCA's from moving around. they keep the tires planted better if you are suffering wheel hop but if you are not they wont really do anything for your problem. yes you need drag radials, and yes you should also get the traction bars especially if you get the drag radials so that you are less likely to break anything, wheel hop kills axles and trannys its hard on everything..

yea i noticed a huge difference. i've always had really good experiences with mickey thompson's when i 1st hear about they were coming out with some sport compact sizes i was stroked. i am those kind of people that go through tires a lot so this was like candy for me. i waited for abt 1 1/2 years for these new sizes to come out and they did not disapoint. in matter of fact i liked these so much i forgot abt the BFG's and still have them installed on another set of SI wheels i have lol. i gotta give props to the MT's

cool, the only reason i havent got them yet because theyre more expensive than the bfg's and didnt know if they were any better to compensate for the price difference..

17's small sidewalls are good for road feel and reduced body roll in corners, but not traction.

Your easiest options:

*get some 15's with sticky tires on the front (the added ricer look will help the sleeper look)
*get an alignment! the same setup that works for daily driving is not the best for 1st gear traction
*get harder bushings/mounts. Sloppy rubber lets your control arms and motor move around, adding to wheel hop and camber/toe change. Neither are good.

I believe I touched on that on the first page in the 13th and 14th post. Probably should read a little bit more next time. And start at the begining.
