Default LS turbo problem @6k rpm

I did it twice on different days just to make sure. Whenever I try to take it up to redline (7k), I tend to get some sort of pop/crackle during acceleration AND it feels like the car isn't getting enough fuel because I can feel it stall/spike before it reaches the full 7k. This happened both times in 2nd gear at 5.5-6k rpm. I had the car professionally tuned after my full tune up using NGK BKR7E-11 [colder plugs]. Running 2.5" piping with no cat. I searched and the possibilities are endless. But it seems that it may be a spark plug gap issue, tuning issue (doubt it?), and/or the car isnt getting enough fuel (running 440 RC injectors off AEM fuel rail). I am not sure what the mechanic set the gap at, but I will call and find out tomorrow.

The 7 tells you the heat range the -11 is just saying that it's pre gapped to .44. What are your spark plugs gapped to? Did you just pull them out of the box and stick them in? They need to be gapped between .24-.26 i believe, sounds like you are blowing out the spark at high RPM's

I just found out the gap is set at .44. I'm running OEM rotor and cap. The tech said the reason why he kept it at .44 is because I'm running a lot of aftermarket parts such as plug wires. He mentioned on the side that because I got my car tuned with a slipping clutch, my car wasn't at full load thus can cause this problem. He's going to check it out Monday and said he'll set the gap lower if I wish.

If your clutch was slipping on the dyno, it more than likely has a shitty tune in the upper rpm's, because of the smaller amount of load on the car. Fix your clutch, then get re-tuned. I wouldn't beat on it either, unless you like broken things

i wouldnt even gap a stock LS motors plugs at .044. My turbo LS #8 NGKS are gapped @ .028, using oem distributor and wires. Luckily Ive had no ignition hiccups and I rev the stock bottom end to 8000rpm.

I'm still new to tuning and how it works. I (and the tuner) should have been aware that a car with a slipping clutch shouldn't be tuned at the spot and should be replaced until then. I wish I knew this before because I just dumped $150 @ DnR Performance. The tuner even told me I wouldn't need to re-tune after I replace my clutch wth...

I originally came to this location because I heard nothing but good reviews at DnR. They have built various Honda's ground up and won races which lead me to believe they truly know their ****.

I'm gonna get the gap set again and re-tune. If I'm using OEM rotor + cap and the NGK plugs, whats an ideal gap to set at?

Take off your filter and see what it does.

you think its a restricted air intake issue? I'm running an open funnel filter which looks like this one in the pic

would re-gaping the plugs alone help the issue?

dont run that filter !! its known to fall apart because the glue becomes undone due to suction and heat and ruins turbos
