yea its a decent sized turbo but i still get full boost by 4K. gotta get tuned so that you can add more fuel for the air your pushing and to also tune your timing to a safe limit so you won't melt your pistons. the tune is the most important part of your build. if your tune is crappy then not even the best/most expensive parts will last

this is one of the worst threads in a while....there is absolutely no tech so far.
1. When you say T3/T04, you're only mentioning about 1000 different turbos.
2. Making 230whp at 4psi i guess can be viewed as good, but is useless
What you need to do is to state your desired power goal, what you plan to use the car for and what your approx budget is. After you let us know the basics, we can help you...until then you're going to continue to get ignorant posts like above

you're going to have to build some kind of setup before taking it to the tuner...also you may as well learn about this stuff now so that when (if) you build a turbo setup on your car, you know how to properly maintain it. Your best bet is to simply read through the threads posted on here and try to understand whats going on....there is also a nice FAQ at the top of the forum where you can find answers to a lot of the questions you may be having. Also, if you need help and cant find the answer, you can always PM me

Re: (Schister66)
yeah im gonna buy new. ive been looking into the garrret turbo, seems like a common most choosen turbo. but b4 all that ill do the reading into how turbos work and also how to maintain them to keep the engine plus turbo for a long period of time. these turbos are not as easy as slappin a v-tec on haha

You can get away with buying some parts used...i would however get a new turbo. Here is a link to the setup i have....i absolutely love it! Its part way down the page...the GT3255 w/ the SLS shorty. Its worth checking out!

Re: (Schister66)
not baaad, how long have you had that combo gsr with the kit? has anything ever blown on the gsr? if so how would you prevent it without happening again? but the thing is i have an Ls, would you recommend that kit for the Ls. also, what about the clutch, i should change that B4 i install the turbo and tune it, unless i can tune it, take it apart, put a clutch in, put it back together without tuning cus it already got tuned , ya know? dumb question i know, remember i only know so much about the turbo.

I've had the SLS shorty and STC GT3255b on my car since July and a topmount w/ the GT3255b on it from November to July.
I haven't ever blown anything or wrecked anything on it...i had a timing belt shred, but no damage was caused because i was going like 6mph when it happened.
For your LS, i would recommend the same SLS shorty, but i'd change the turbo to the GT3251b instead of my GT3255b. It would spool faster so you'd have a better powerband on the LS.
For the clutch, be sure to get something that is a little bit overkill because chances are, you'll want to upgrade long before the clutch is worn out. I have an Exedy Stage 2 and soon i'll be pushing it to the edge. I'd also do the clutch before the turbo....i did mine well enough in advance so that it was broken in by the time my turbo setup was ready to dyno...i didnt want to slip the clutch at all on the dyno. If you're paying $150/hr, dont waste your time w/ a setup that isn't 100% ready

Re: (Schister66)
trew, im defenitly gonna do the clutch b4 anything. since i have about 7-8 months to rebulid my car( no license) im gonna put rods, cams, crankshaft the whole shindig. i would guess the engine can handle that turbo if i did all that instead of using an allll stock ls
