Depends on what you are looking for. If you want the best acceleration use the b16 if you want better gas mileage and a little slower accleration use the gsr. Shorter gearing will accelerate faster.

unless you plan to rev 7500+ i would just keep the ls tranny.
With normal sized tires you'll be in 5th gear with a gsr tranny around 100-105 (~7k redline).

im running stock si wheels, shifting at 7300 on my ls/gsr trans and i go into 5th at 105-108mph. i like the fast revving for lower hp setups ie when i was on 7 psi, but once i got up to 11 and 12 psi, it became stupid. im switching back to the ls tranny.
b16 tranny will to entirely to tight, especially if you drive on the highway ever

gsr tranny and ls you redline 4th at about 105 and 5th at about 135-140.
14psi on my turbo i was having to hit 5th on 22in tall slicks in the quarter, killing my 1/4. now on 215/60/14 (~23.5 in) drag radials i am running faster on drag radials than I was on my slicks cause i am able to stay in 4th going through the traps at about 7400 rpm.
my honest opinion, go with a gsr tranny, ls is just too long for your goals

maybe for a high revving b16.....but for us stock ls guys we would be in 5th at ~97 mph (stock sized tires). A lot of the stock ls-t guys are trapping 110+. At the 1/8th mile I'm at 90mph, so basically just a little after the 1/8th mile I'd be going into 5th gear. Shorter is not always better, you need match your gearing with your et goals.
You may also have a little more traction problems with a shorter geared tranny (maybe not when you have good tires at the track).

You can get low 12s with any of the trannies....just have to find out what size tires you want to run and go from there. Personally I can't raise my car for a taller tire (no coilovers) so I will try a 22 or 23 inch tall tire.
There is more to it than what I said....and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.
And there is more than plenty on this site already to explain it.

ok 120 at red line in a b16 thats not right if you wanna no what gear ratio is for what tranny and what you daily drive at just click on my link
http://autocrossing.com/cgi-bin/gearcalc.cgi
and I'm running a b16 tranny on my lsvtec at 12pounds with no problems i will say gas price do suck but it cost to be fast i would say ethier the gsr or b16 is the best bet

well keep this in mind. This thread is about a straight ls turbo, for the most part we shift ~7000.
less rpm=less speed per gear
