gsr is the best all around tranny if you ask anyone. But if you are sure you want an LS, I got one ill trade you for
.
Only reason an LS would be better is for gas mileage and for highway/topspeed runs. And the GSR tranny can be remedy for that by just putting in an LS 5th.

****, search. This has been covered a dozen-ish times before on here.
The B18B tranny with longer gears being better for boost is a retarded myth that got started somehow. Shorter gears means quicker acceleration, I don't give a **** if it's a turbocharged, supercharged, naturally aspirated, or nitrous motor, it will be quite a bit quicker with a GSR tranny than it would with an LS tranny.

This is a whole diff world but in mustang land people pickup time going with a lower gear ratio because they are not able to build full boost before they have to shift with a high gear ratio, most switch from a 4.1:1 final drive to 3.23:1/3.08:1
i would say use a type-r or gsr tranny for drag racing
and use the LS for highway or any other time you want long gears--or at least put the LS 5th in the gsr
remember that if you top out before your opponent, you lose unless you agreed on a certain mph or place that is a win
that's just my opinion
basically it depends on what you intend to do with the car.

The difference is if you take a stock 302 and bolt on a pair of T3's you're making sizeable boost at 3000 RPM's and the motor starts to quit at 5500 with E7's and a stock cam. Since a lot of people run C4's you're totally running out of gear with a 26" tire and 4.10's in any turbo mustang, which isn't the case with a B16 tranny and a high-revving motor. With an LS trans, 24.5 inch slicks, and an 8500 rev limit you will do 150 MPH in fourth gear, and you will be shifting out of third gear at 115 MPH, which is going to be very close to the traps for 99% of people. With a B16 trans/24.5" slicks/8500 rev limit you'll do 127 in fourth gear, which is ideal for most moderate to high horsepower turbo hondas. I personally feel the GSR is the best transmission for a street car that will be taken to the strip. On a typical 205/50/15 street tire fourth gear ends at about 128 which will let you make a full pass without shifting into fifth, but on slicks you're shifting out of third at 103, which isn't so obscenely close to the traps that you lose some speed. The only reason I would run an LS trans in a street turbo honda is if I were building an LS motor with stock cams where the power dies off dramatically on the top end and you arn't going to be shifting any later than 7000, maybe 7500 if you're running a lot of boost.
