Default LS with Greddy Turbo bogging

Car is 97 Integra LS with Greddy turbo setup and Type 31 FMIC
Koyo Radiator, radiator cap, 2 slim fans

I just recently had all random cylinder misfire CEL lights on so I got new plugs, wires, and distributor put in. That took care of the CEL lights but now the car seems to bog after reaching 5k rpm , especially in 3rd and 4th gear. I noticed this a couple times before I had the plugs and all replaced too. Just noticed the bogging tonight and its bad.

Timing is slightly retarded. The car is running on the stock piggy back system. And the tailpipe has really been pushing out a lot since the turbo swap. Running rich too.

Could it possibly have anything to do with the fuel pressure regulator, or the timing. I'm going to change my oil tomorrow, its been about 4 months since I last changed it but the car was sitting in the garage all that time.

What do you guys think, any suggestions would help. Lemme know if there's anything else you may need to know.

it could be your plugs. You need to run colder ngk plugs and gap appropriately. i have greddy kit on my gsr and i recommend convert to obd1 ditch blue box and tune it with hondata, crome pro, uberdata. etc.

Check your spark plug gap. I had the same bogging issue and it turned out that the spark plugs were gapped way out of spec. I closed down the gap and the bogging went away.

I do highly recommend getting it tuned, though. The blue box/Emanage is garbage.

Yes listen to schmoo. he the man. He help me with my turbo setup. Definitely the spark plugs gap will cause it to bog. I guarantee it.

I am running colder NGK plugs on it right now, the injectors are the Greddy 310ccs. I want to find a way to fix this problem without having to ditch the blue box or getting any major upgrades. This is the whole reason I decided to go Greddy.

What do you recommend I have them gapped at?

use NGK BKR7e's gapped to .28-.30. This should solve your bogging problems and keep the blue box.

try taking your timing back to around 14~16' (stock seting) the blue box alredy retard's some ign. if that does'nt help, slowly try leaning out the mixture. my blue box + emange both ran very rich with the factory settings.

The timing is slightly retarded, i'm running the NGK BKR7E-11s. I believ that those are the colder ones. I'm afraid that I'm fouling out my plugs due to running rich. A tech told me that I'm gonna need MSD but I don't wanna have to go that way.

Correction, the NGK BKR7E-11s are the copper ones, and I believe that the -11 means a .11 mm gap which is like ~.042". I'll have them gapped a little closer.

Are they supposed to be gapped between .28-.30 or .028-.030?

MSD isn't necessary, stock system is quite capable.

I'd personally suspect that the Greddy e-manage is the weak link. A real tuning program and tune could very well remedy the problem.

Of course it could be ignitor/ignition coil/plug wires etc.... Lots of things to consider.

.028 to .030 is what he meant.

I had a problem with spark blowout even at that size though. Ended up having to go all the way down to .023 with the same plugs to cure it. Not the same motor but exact same symptoms only mine was abotu 5500.
