Default LS Breather/Catch Can Question

Alright so this is an old OBD1 block.

Im going to be running a catch can. Ive taken all of my breather stuff out and if im correct I am supposed to convert #1 to a nipple to run to my catch can. #2 gets plugges with a threaded plug, and #3 gets a freeze plug pressed into it. Right?

And also, this is an OBD1 block and Im running an OBD2 valve cover. Is there any special or fancy way for me to block off the PCV hole in the VC?

thanks in advance

that helps a lot! thanks.

is it necessary to remove both plugs and add the honda fittings to run the can, or can i just use one? i dont see a point in 2 really.

and also what about the valve cover hole?

More fittings equals more venting.

plug up #3.

remove #1 and the other plug on the other side of the oil filter. run your ventilation from them.

you can plug up #2, its a 1/8 bspt if im not mistaken, same as oil pressure sensor.

you can just leave the valvecover vent open, or get a little filter to put on there. thats what i did for my lsvtec running an obd1 block

the valve cover already has a breather on it. the one that i need to plug on the VC is where the PCV used to be. its an obdII VC.

The best way in my opinion is:

1. leave the black box and and connect it to the IM like stock so your pcv system is intact and functional when not in boost.

2. reinstall the driver side plug and use the pass. side for your catch can.

3. since you have a newer valve cover with the grommet on top, hollow out the pcv valve and T it off to the breather can or if you have two bungs on the breather, have a separate line for the hollow pcv valve,

4. Leave the breather pipe on the valve cover exposed or attach a breather filter.

Why would you want to PRESSURIZE the crankcase when in boost? You're defeating the purpose by running any type of line from/to the vent system to/from the intake manifold.

im assuming you are talking to the last guy that posted. and on a side note, ive gotta LS crank that im pretty sure is still good. ill look at it thursday when i get to the shop.

altho his idea about hollowing out the PCV and running it to the catch can line is genius!

i would not be building engines if i didnt already know this... im not being a dick but that has been the answer that i was NOT looking for. i was looking for the PCV hole on top of the VC. you just seem to be the first person i brought out. sorry if you misunderstood my question and thanks for the reply

Mine has been left open for the past 2 years......it will vent pretty much only air. I don't remember ever seeing any oil flying out. The worst thing that it has done is get a 3 inch circle of the underhood dirty.

it doesn't work like that. when in boost, the plunger in pcv valve closes.

the pcv is unreliable and will fail without notice.

there is a brass fitting that goes in there. the second port on the black box connects there.
