looking for turbo recomendations..not honda!
Car: 98 Volvo S70 T5 manual
I upgraded to a slightly larger than stock mitsu turbo earlier this year and ended up bending 2 or 3 rods. I've had the motor built and now i'm looking for a larger turbo that can get me to ~400whp.
engine is 2.3l 5cyl 20 valve .020 over bore, 8.1:1 CR
what sort of A/R and trim should I be looking for to have it spool fairly early but not choke out up top?

id say for you because you want quick spool, a really big T3/T4 like an SC63 or SC61
Me personally I would run a straight T4 like a t4/t4R or T4/60-1 .70 a/r

Then the .63 A/R Turbine Precision Trubo SC61 will do you good.
Maybe even a .63 Turbine SC34 might work. A little smaller compressor, but still capable of 400 HP.

If you look closely, you can see the crack only goes about 1/2 cm down from the deck. It's prolly a little area for the coolant to go to keep things cool between the cylinders.
Looks like a good idea actually.

He said 400 WHP, not 600 WHP. Heck, why stop there. I think you should run a T76-GTS! 1000 WHP capable, but who cares!

For real dude. Its still a FI question. There is lots of us here that have other cars other then hondas. THey just like the forum here. If you dont have anything good to say, dont say anything.
As for the questions at hand, a 50trim t3/t4 will put out about 450whp at peak, a 60trim t3/t4 will get ya almost 500 at peak.
Actually a pretty badass turbo might be a straight garrett GT30R - it has a .84ar housing which should work very well with the 2.3 litre, and still support a little over 500whp. Not to mention it will spool up VERY fast on your car.

So basically you recommend the sc61 but spite the idea of getting a t3/67.

At what RPM do you want full boost. How much boost are you running? Are you against buying a turbo that is overkill, good for 500+whp?

full boost by 3500rpm. I'm not sure how much boost i'll be running. I'm not going to upgrade for a little while but thought I would start researching.
