looking for 400-450whp LS, now which turbo?
i'm in the process of building a fully built ls turbo. my goal is to make 400-450whp and i can't decide on which turbo....
i would love to run a gt series(or any bb turbo) but i'm not sure if funds will allow this.....
so what would you guys recommend?
if a bb turbo is something i should seriously consider, which would be best a gt35r or gt30r?
Thanks for any help
and i have read some of the ls-t thread but there is no way i'm goign to read 200 pages

I am working with the same motor with the same goals and I am going with the GT30R.
Quick spool is the main reason. It spools 1000 rpm's quicker than other turbos of the same size

hmmm....i didn't know think that bb turbo's spooled that much faster?
Can anyone else confirm that a gt30r would work good for a built ls-t set up?i want something to hold boost and make power to 8.5k-9k rpms
thanks for the reply man

i am using SC6152E on my built gsr, made 408whp and full boost around 4500rpm hold it all the way up to 9700rpm....
BB turbo is nicer though... But other BB, Precision SC series will be ur best pick...

what's the setup on the built gsr? b/c if you only made 408whp with a gsr, it'd be hard for me to be the the 400-450whp range with that turbo with my ls.
what kind of dyno was this on also?

what's your setup and do you have any dyno numbers?

sc61, harry at pte is great. been dealing with him since i had my t type 10 years ago. also maybe a gt30r. i think the 35 is a little large, putting the power out of where you want it.
we are doin a 3067 i think on friends gsr looking for 450-500 on the high end.

and 400-4500whp is just my absolute minimum goal, if i surpass taht that's great, so i just want to make sure i have a turbo which can get me to at LEAST that

Re: looking for 400-450whp LS, now which turbo? (CivicVX94)
I have a built LS with Crower 62404 camshafts and a GT3076RLE. I see 9lbs - 9.5lbs by 4,000RPM. If I feel better today I am going to install the boost controller and up the boost slowly to about 20lbs this weekend. I will try to post datalogs this weekend. I'm not saying a GT3076RLE will make 450whp on a stock port LS head though

Most BB turbos are only 300rpm quicker to spool than the thrust bearings, it's a misconception, and there are dyno charts on HT to prove it.

What isn't a misconception is the GT30R has a pair of very efficient wheels and will spool up quite a bit quicker than a typical journal bearing turbo that will support as much horsepower as it. You're looking at a T3/60-1 HiFi to be able to support as much HP as the GT30R, and the 30R will spool about 1000 RPM's quicker than a .63 A/R Stage 5 hot side setup on a T3/60-1 HiFi.

Unfortunately I Totally disagree with this.... There are plenty of journal bearing setups that can do the similar result, it's all in what you know what is available and used..

spend $200-300 on a T70 from SSAC.
Dont spend $1,000+ on a turbo unless you just hard-core and really need that extra spool for some reason...

I would take a GT3255E (non ball bearing) or GT35S over anything from SSAC

I believe it. Considering you were at about 2020cc displacement with an 85mm bore and an open downpipe

I would to if I were a hard core ****... hehe... I actualy have a garrett GT4088 chillin for my next project , But foir $200-$300 it isnt a bad deal for that T70. I have used them in the past for a while and they hold up great and make good power. I made 370whp @ 11psi w/ my 84mm LSvtec with one.
