Nice! Is it only me, or do the ported compressor covers just look mean?

What does the cut in the inlet housing do? In the video you mentioned that it was "functional?"

There are covers out there where the "anti surge" compressor housing is 100% cosmetic, 0% positive function

Are these Turbonetics turbos a bit more reliable than the Precision turbos? I don't have any experience with turbonetics.

Turbonetics turbos in general have a history of being quite "reliable" and have always been backed by a 1 year, no fault/ "no questions asked" warranty. (they ask questions for the sake of data/records)

Ebay turbos have a higher reliability than precision.. Turbonetics is kind enough to offer that 12 month N.Q.A, no fault warranty though.

haha, funniest **** I've read all day. Thanks for the fast reply. That is good to know about the warranty, seems legit to me if they are willing to back it up for 12 months, and no questions asked. I'll keep this brand in mind as I'm thinking of upgrading my turbo in the future.

Precision Journal bearing turbos were the problem. On the other hand tho, if you are paying for a 1500+ Gen 2 ball bearing Precision why just dont pay maybe extra 200$ and get an endurance racing,
2-hour-WOT proven turbo like an EFR?

I have a soft feeling about turbonetics tho and id run a JB turbo of their's easy.

Greg what sizing turbine wheel they use here?

Do Turbonetics have a turbo comparable in size like the Precision 5858 journal bearing?

Garrett has the GTW3476 that is very similar to the PTE 5858.

PTE JB turbos when run in "normal" operating range are really non problematic from my experience in the past few years (with proper oiling/ventilation)
Why not EFR; for most people it's probably housing options, top end power, sizing simplicity, and popularity...all rolled into one.

Right now, now. The C15 availibility has a gap from 52mm T3 (which we have in BB) and skips to 60mm with a T4 turbine housing. The 5657 would be the closest option there but they do not have the T04E compressor housings done yet (or apparently most of the F1 T3 turbine housing options [4 bolt outlet, vband outlet])
In T3 (currently) there is a 4854, 4857, 5257B in journal or ball bearing.
In T4 there is a 6062, 6465, 6868, 7268, 7875 (maybe a few others in there that I skipped)

Does anyone know where I could find a compressor map for the C15-48 compressor wheel? I've tried contacting turbonetics but I haven't gotten a response, and I cannot find any anywhere online

I dont think there is one. If we knew te compressor exduser we could make an estimate on pressure ratio aaaannnnddd thats it.
I dont think you need it at the end. Unless you plan on doing high boost above 35psi and you have thoughts on how good it will be at that higher pres.ratio.
It will probably run like a GTX2863 compressor with a GT30 turbine wheel inside a .48 a/r turbine housing. A good combo if you ask me.

And you won't get one. T-netics doesn't put those out like Garrett and other companies. I think that's a BIG factor in choosing a turbo, honestly. Unless you're a turbo wizard, the usual folks rely on them to make better informed purchase decisions. Not finding, nor having a map available knocked them right off the table for me, despite the great 12 month warranty. Warranty doesn't matter AS MUCH though as does how it will operate for me where I need it to.

Just thought I'd add to this thread in case folks are searching - I made 392 whp / 325 ft-lb with the C15 52/57 on my D16Z6 at 28.5 psi. Hoping to really feel it out in a week or two when I get the cylinder head back on. Also - the 52/57 did not come with a ported shroud.

**EDIT**

It's looking like I made the 392 hp on the low cam only...I don't think VTEC was engaging. Hoping to re-dyno in 2 weeks and make even more.

Thanks for the input everyone. TBH I might just grab it and throw it on. I'm looking for some decent enough spool and hopefully around 300 wheel with a d16y8 I do have access to e85 now lol. Even under 300 I'll still be happy though.

That power would be easily achievable with great spool characteristics in the C15, even w/ the 48/57 JB unit.
