Default Locking vtec in all the time d16?

I've looked and not found much. I've got a buddy who recently done this on his lsv. He's got stock cams and has seen no wear after about 1500 miles. I however have a d16y8 with a comp 105300 cam. I want to increase my spool time by locking vtec in all the time. What's your guys opinion?
