Default ... limitations on increasing boost

... local shop said that air fuel ratio the only limiting factor... is this true or not?... they said i should be alright upping the boost as long as i am not leaning out too much, right?... (will be using a wideband to watch a/f)...

... lemme know if this is a true statement... i want more than 5.5psi!!!... hoping for 12+ psi with lower compression cometic headgasket... thanks...

the strength of your internals also.

... will the stock internals hold for ~12psi daily assuming that there is no detonation and my a/f are all under control?... thanks...

Also there are limitations on the turbos efficiency. After a certain point a turbo becomes less efficient and will not last long or perform well.

Now the other factor is detonation. 93-octane gas can only allow you to increase the boost but so much. A/F ratio is not the only factor in determining how much boost you can run. Ignition timing has allot to do with it as well, load and so on and so fourth.

But the most important thing to remember is that, "Boost is a measurement of restriction not power"

Another important factor (assuming this is a street car) is the octane of gas readily available. You can have a "safe" 11.5:1 a/f ratio at 30psi of boost, but something in the back of my mind says that 91 octane may not be able to resist detonating

Edit: Doh! PWRVTEC beat me to it

Most likely if the EGT's are not too high, no detonation, good controlled A/F ratio, no too aggressive ignition timing.

Yep, fuel octane is the only real limiting factor.

hehe dont forget about timing when u turn up the boost. u have to adjust that too.

.7deg. retard per psi.
