Default light flywheel helps?

i got a ls teg, and i am boosting soon. But i have a b16 transmision on it. I still have my ls tranny, but it sucks for accelaration. I was wondering if any 1 had any experince wit a light flywheel on the tranny. That way i still have the top speed, but wit fast accelaration as well. All coments appreciated .

I have a B18A1 with the fidanza 7 pound flywheel, and my mid range to top end is worse than stock, not enough rotational mass.

so it accelarates faster, but u loose power? How does that work with boost? If i put the ls tranny back on wit a 9 pound fly wheel on 10 pounds of boost, with a t/3 i would loose power?

you should gain hp and torque by adding the flyweel

The light flywheel allows the engine to rev up quicker, but it also revs back down faster so unless you do ultra fast shifting all the time then its to no use in boost since your RPMs drop down more.

It will be even harder to launch with boost.

i've got an ACT Prolite and it makes a great difference in acceleration. honestly...how much time do you actually spend in neutral when shifting?!? maybe 1/10th of a second which will hardly drop your rpms when shifting during a race. also...how do you lose midrange to highend power with a light flywheel? there is less mass for your motor to rotate so therefore freeing more power, even though many times it will not even show on a dyno.

he was refering to gearing differances in te two trannys... LS Vs. B16

IMO, run the LS tranny with the ACT streetlite flywheel (12lb) keep a little rotational mass, not as much vibration to the drivetrain, and you keep good gearing up top. I understand turbos decel faster than NA, so keeping a little mass would be good for you. I think alot will agree with my position
