Default knock sensor question! help!

Hello,
Currently putting my engine back in after a rebuild. Ready for a turbo to be fitted.

Anyway i some how managed to break the knock sensor, i believe its the knock sensor anyway. Its just under the inlet manifold on the block (b16a2)

Was looking for a replacement but i've heard that on a p28 ecu the knock sensor isn't read. If this is the case i can just use the broken sensor as a plug and continue my build?

Only seen it mentioned on few forums so i dont wanna carry on building if im going to get bitten by it then have to take it all apart again

Most OBD1 ECUs won't look for a knock sensor, unless they have a knock board added. That being said, though, your tuner (as well as the health of your motor) will love you for having a functioning knock sensor.

p28 is not the right ecu for b16

unless its chipped with crome and has a b16 map on it

you need a p30 ecu if you want to run stock ecu

The hold is blind, meaning it doesn't go all the way through into the block. You can just leave the sensor put or remove it, it doesn't make a difference if you are using an ECU / EMS that doesn't need the KS input.

I've never understood NOT running a knock sensor... Like do these people have ultrasonic hearing that can detect knock events?
