Default Keeping coolant temperatures down on boosted engine?

First off, how hot is too hot? Is 210 too hot? My intercooler must be restricting some airflow to my radiator or the slim fan isnt pulling enough air through. I know I may be asking a stupid question, but do those Greddy aluminum plates that install over the red actually help airflow to it? Also how much will a Koyo or Fluidyne radiator keep temps down?

210 is not to hot. im at 210 at idle

what type of radiator do you have now. is it a half or full sized?

any aluminum radiator will help. if you intercooler is blocked the radiator, make some air ducks.

platinum.

Bone stock radiotor = The Suck

Wondering if if should replace it soon, I miss it staying at 180 and below all the time. I thought about making a fiberglass scoop that was as wide as the rediator that would force air up it and the greddy panel to force it through it.

x2

KOYO Radiator brought my temp down a little, but 210 is fine.

Mugen Thermostat & Thermo Fan Switch, possibly a better fan too....

on my d, in an eg, i run a del sol dual core, with a jackson racing 160 thermo. Normal driving, highway, i'm around 160, in traffic, it goes up... the track day i did, was at 180 mostly, sometimes it head up to 200. You can definetly get your car cooler. Hook your fan up to a switch too, and when you get into traffic or are driving slower, kick it on.

yes, this combo along with a C&R or fluidyne will much inprove your overheating issue.

summit racing also sells coolant that makes your car run like 30 degrees cooler. Call em and find out.

When my boy slapped a turbo on his stock b16... he had a lot of issues with the temp going up.... We didn't look at temps but we measured by the needle.... it was running in the red a lot so he would have to pull over to let it cool down a bit. He thought he'd fix the problem by junkin his half radiator and bought a fluidyne.... to no avail, it still had problems with over heating, the needle would stay somewhere a lil above half way - the top..... He bought spoon thermostat and thermoswitch and it ran coo... the needle stayed at 1/4....... He tried to put back on his stock radiator to see if he even needed to buy the costly fluidyne.... He didn't even need it, with the half radiator, the needle stayed consistently at 1/4.

He was making 270 whp at 10 psi... I guess if you're in that range u can stick with the stock radiator and just get an aftermarket thermostat and switch

I am at 180ish, so says Crome. I wonder why I'm soo low, I'm on a stock single core radiator with a large frontmount and a lisence plate in front.

I'd say that if your car idles at 210+ degrees F, you need to re-evaluate your cooling system.

Personally, I feel that 190-200 is a good range.

When the stock needle is in the red, its too damn hot.
