k20a
i got a 2000 civic chassis and i have a option to go k20 base or k20 type s for the motor.
i see a difference of 40hp between the set ups. now i can pick up a base for 2500 and a type s for 4000.
i am going to go turbo and if i got base i save 1500 dollars that can be applied to a turbo kit install ect.. extra money to blow on parts.
now would i be wasting money buy the base to turbo or just go type-s turbo?? lets say 300 hp is my first goal and i got 5k to spend atm and turbo set up will be installed mid summer.
i know the type-s head is where the powers at but with the cost effective 1500 i save would it be worth buying the base or just spend 1500 for the type-s upgrade?
please give me some insight so i don't make a mistake and spend more money than i have to.

Re: k20a
well seeings how this is forced induction i wont go into how much the swap will actually cost you
but the type s swap is a much better choice for anything that you want to do and is worth 1500 extra (even though type s swaps can be had for around 3,000)

Re: k20a
You'll reach 300whp more easily with the K20a2 motor....300hp is achievable with the K20a3 motor, however you're asking for trouble. Stock rods on the K20a3 don't like to see much more than 275hp.
