Default just got a turbo and i need help.

i just bought a used turbo from a guy and everything looks good but the only thing wrong is that the turbo charger itself doesnt work. the guy said something about the bearing or something like that. i plan to rebuild it. any1 know how to do it?

and the kit didnt come with injectors. just the pipping, intercool, waste gate etc.

so my other question is, what else to i need to buy other than injector if i need them.
oh and i have a d16y8

Oh man...where to start on this one. If you dont know any specs on the turbo, you should post up some pictures of it so that we have some sort of idea of what you're working with. Honestly, buying a bad turbo, on what i assume is your first attempt at boosting, is not a good idea.

Well if you're buying a Greddy or Edelbrock kit so that it's able to be smogged and ref'd in Cali, you're more than likely not going to be able to use the parts you have so far. Pics would really help at this point...

i dont know exactly what hes trying to say. rebuild kits are pretty cheap. but if you dont know what youre doing i wouldnt suggest doing it yourself. the whole base of your turbo kit should be having a good reliable turbo. so you should start there and work your way from that. i dont know anything about ebay wastegates. but it looks like ya got one there. id get a somewhat good turbo, and a good wastegate considering those are the most crucial parts.

stock head bolts or are you going to do head studs and a new gasket?
stock = 200 whp max
head studs= 230whp max
that is Conservative people have done more with min. problems
but reliable

a rebuild kit should be available depending on the "kind of turbo"(t3/t4 50-57trim?)
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Unseen Racer &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">well the guy said that the kit is an eBay kit. and im guessing its JDM cuz it says that on the turbo.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

the manifold is not bad...
it's cast... so it shouldn't crack
however your WG (wastegate) is only affecting one runner so expect boost creep
the turbo is probably crap... but some have had luck
cheep WG on top of the bad WG location... spells bad news
the FMIC (Front Mount IC) should be good for your goals
the DP (Down Pipe) should be fine but if you replace the turbo with anything but the same type you will need a new one (bigger is better)

that's it for now
I'm going to bed ha ha
gota work again...

that looks like a t28 flange...
5 blot...
i not good at the "name that turbo" game
is there any letters or numbers stamped on it?
are you sure that JDM sticker wasn't covering a SSAC badge?

stamped where? on the turbo itself or on the WG.

the WG releases unwanted boost
you car on X turbo can produce X boost
but if you were to run X boost you would blow your motor
so you only want to run &lt;X boost
the wastegate bypasses exhaust around the turbo to maintain a consistent boost level
this is important when pushing the limits and staying reliable

by the WG only relieving pressure off of runner #1 the other 3 continue to build boost
and that is called boost creep
this is not the only cause of boost creep but is most common

well... no
the firing order is from right to left
4_3_2_1

thus the WG being on runner #1
but yes it is one pipe in the manifold
