Default just got my turbo... what a surprise...

I just got my RHB5 IHI turbo today in the mail, and man is it tiny! The thing looks like a hairdryer... it's going on my dohc zc so it shouldn't be a big spool problem. But man... it's smaller than my roomates td05 snail, now I envy those cars with the big T3/T04 B/E snails...wow... wish me luck... btw, is it possible to clock this turbo?

Yeah...thos turbos are extremely small....very fast spool right off the line but tops off quick.....good for the people who just want a tad more lowend torque without having to do a major rebuild

man that pic. made me self conscious... so i take it the isamu turbos are the "anaconda's" of turbos eh? man, the D16a6 only puts down 85 to the wheels? I wonder wat 8psi will do on the sohc non vtec.

i ran a ihi rhb5 in my d16y8 for a year. very quick spool up and pulls to redline in my sohc. starts to spool at 2200 and full boost at 3.3k. It was fun daily driven. this was on 6 psi.

People trash them for being too small, but I know of a dual IHI Mustang 5.0 owner who got high 11's out of a set of them - nobody thought he would have done better than a high 12, and the power faded over 4K in that setup.

Depending on how well you can drive, your engine's condition, tuning, car's weight, etc, you might end up doing very well with it. If you got something around a 14.0 on street tires, I'd say you were doing a good job.

And you gotta take into account the low, low redline of a Ford 302 engine A little set of T3's can put down serious power on one of those bad boys.

that's true, don't those redline around 4k? My friend he ran his crx si after coming from a chevelle w/ a 400small block shifted around 4k in the rex. I was like WTF are you doing!!! we're in a honda! now he shifts around 9k in his B18C EF

Im making a manifold for one of these turbos. Its going on a B18A. That thing will boost off idle, and run out around 2k...whatever though...

My 86 Mustang GT's redline is 5800.

It's not THAT low. It's only 700 shy of an Accord's SOHC engine, or an LS.

I shift my 5.0 at 5k, though, because the torque is there at 3000 RPM, and it falls off by 5000. 300 ft lbs STOCK at 3000, 225 HP at 4000. Yummy.

pretty low compared to a 8k redline of a B16a or even 7200 of a D16. buy anways, my bad about the redline

I ran a 13.5 wiht 13 PSI of boost with the IHI turbo in my 83 prelude that weighs 2300 lbs with me in it. It definetely hits full bosst right away. Loads of torque. Really fun to drive. Now i am running the turbo from the SVO mustang.

hey man dont let that little turbo get you down. i have a friend that has one on his crx that is gutted with a stock b16 with some 310 injectors, a jg intake mani and he took the turbo to a machine shop and had them bore it out and on race gas he ran a 12.4@105 with slicks. when he popped his hood after he beat all these other $3000 turbo kit turbo cars with his little $500 homemade turbo you should of seen the look on there face. turboing your car is more brains than anything. it is nothing more than one big algebra question that you have to find the answer to.

I was tryng to think up a way of making sequential turbo setup using one of those as the lowend turbo and a t3/4 as the upper end power...
