Default Just did a compression test.....

Well after i built this motor i saw compression in the 175psi range. I recently got my car out of storage and just did a test. 140 cross the board. Every cylinder. I used this test on my truck and got 170 cross the board (beat to hell 94 22re) Isnt it wierd to have such low reading? Im on a decent tune that is conservative and all my afrs seem to be proper in boost.

Drive it around for a while, a few days..

It may just be bad ring seal from sitting so long, maybe even rusted sleeves/rings..

Yeah ive been driving for a week now. I hope the gauges is off by 20-30lbs.
Im happy that the number are consistent, but just a little worried. You guys know how nerve racking F/I **** is.

Actually, I got the same exact numbers... 140 across. fully built b16 9:1 pistons, .019" top ring, .021~.024" second ring gap.

I've always had this reading even when the motor was freshly built. It ran strong for 13k miles and sat for over a year... Did compression check recently and came up with same readings, different gauge (same type).

So we're either both ok or screwed... I say if it runs strong, and numbers are consistant then don't worry
Oh thats right it's a boosted Honda... Worry about something else

Drop some Seafoam in that sucka to clean up the engine a bit to see if that would help.

9:1 motors have relatively low compression. 140 is probably fine. If you're worried about it, then do a leakdown test on it.

Yeah it does run very strong, a little smoke in boost, but i think my turbo seals are toast. (oil in charge pipe+dripping out of chra) I think im going to do a leakdown, and if its shitty rebuild this winter, but for now if its going down...its going down hard

the first motor i built, i never did a leakdown test, just for the factt hat i didnt want to rebuild if it was beat.

It ran strong, so i put my worries else where

when i got my ls motor first running after sitting in a junkyard from march- november it had like 150ish psi compression. after around a week or 2 of driving it came up a good 20-30 psi. i wouldnt worry and def give it more time

If you are not getting much blow-by I would not worry about it. if you do see a lot of crap coming out of your breather... your rings would be suspect.

Drop a spoon full of oil in there and see what you get.

It would show up the most under boost.

Yeah some smoke under boost, but i think its to blame on the turbo seals.
