Just dandy...
just got back from street tuning my d16z6 with greddy kit on 10psi. well i got it about halfway tuned and ran into a problem. my brand new stage 1 exedy clutch kit does nothing but slip in boost. i got this awhile back because my oem clutch was slipping on 5psi and it worked great up until now.
so whats a good clutch for a dseries making approximately 200whp? maybe a little above just in case. nothing too expensive.
thanks

A oem Exedy clutch should not slip in boost at your power levels, especially on the street. Not sure what your problem is but I doubt it's the ability of the clutch.

I did hundreds of 8500rpm launches on slicks with my stock Exedy clutch with alot more power than your making. I find it hard to believe it would just start to slip on the street unless there was another problem like riding the clutch, slave cly, mast cly, input seal leaking on the disk, or any number of things. But whatever, you ordered a new clutch so good luck.

i thought it would hold no problem too... the clutch was about 1500 miles old, it was broken in, nothing wrong with my master or slave. it holds just fine up to 5psi and over that it just spins.. maybe something broke.. i dont know ill see once i pull the tranny off.

So have all of my buddies. I loved the XtSS. I just went to the XTreme 6 puck for the new setup. ACT gets a from me

IIRC, the OO is the normal street disc, no copper shavings in the disc material. Meaning a greater chance of heat/power making it slip. If that clutch goes too, I wouldn't be blaming it on the clutch. I've seen lots of people shift who think they're good - most of them I wouldn't let drive my car double-clutching. Not to point the finger, but make sure you look at EVERYTHING when you change the clutch. Flywheel step within factory spec? Master/slave allowing slippage? Bearings are known to go bad in d-series trannies, along with seals. There's also the fact that the smallest amount of water can make a clutch slip easily.

I have a greddy kit @ 7.5 psi on my D16Y8.
I made 183whp/163tq with an ACT HDSS clutch kit
Part # HC5-HDSS, good to 223 ft/lbs. of torque. Should be around $300 (what I paid).

Re: Just dandy... (boostincoupe)
I just ordered an ebay stage 1 clutch for $95 the other day. They're supposed to hold 200hp but for $95 i'll turn down my boost to keep it from slipping
