UPDATED..PICS ADDED

picked up a GSR block last night with Darton sleeves. a set of crower rods and SRP pistons. theres a few small scratches on one of the cylender walls, cant catch a fingernail in it, its real tiny. one of the pistons was slapping hard so it has gash marks all over it. and one rod is a little dirty. came with the crank, oil pump, ARP's, and all the little accesories like the coolant line in the back, misc nuts and bolts..etc
so i need 4 new pistons, and i am going to be using all the misc parts off my stock GSR block i have now. i picked the block up from a friend for real cheap. he was tired of his car and parting it out after this happened. so for 300 bucks i got...darton sleeved block with small scratch on one of the walls (plan to make it 2.0 anyway ) 4 good crower rods, a crank, oil pump, flywheel and ARP's. my question is this. i plan to run only 20psi daily. stock block should be enough, but for 300 bucks why the hell not pick up a sleeved one. anyone on here had experience with darton sleeves? i searched but couldnt find much. threads from like two years back and whatnot that were not very helpfull. so my question is this, will the darton sleeves hold up if bored to a 2.0, they have been used for a while, so im not worried about thems sinking. jus tnot sure if i should keep the darton and bore it 2.0, or sell it and use stock block. my hp goals are around 400-450 whp. so im kinda in the woods now

The lesser the bore, the more room you'll have for any fvckups. Remember, the sleeves are only as good as the guy who did the install. So if the sleeves went in crooked, then you're fvcked. A lot of people here have boosted big bore setups and have no problems with it. So it's your call
Just remember to have your machinist to check out the condition of the block before you buy your parts.

the block was used for quite some time, one of the rods went wacky, and somehow the piston managed to wobble around and slap the valves. so the pistons are screwed. so i have to get new pistons, the rods are fine, aside from one. which i am replacing. so when i get the block checked out, then i can determine my bore size. thanks alot for the info, very helpful

well i finally got some pics of the block. i have to clean it up, its pretty dirty right now. but heres some pics of the sleeves. i sent the rods to crower to get cleaned up and fixed ( the bushings for the wrist pins were messed up ). i am contemplating the bore size. i really wana do 84mm bore. but im not 100% its totally safe. so im bringing it back to the shop that installed it, and asking their input. anyway, heres some pics...

Hey...if you are planning to bore out your cylinders, try giving "Rick" @ Carolina Auto Machine a call. They bored out (.020 over) my LS block for under $60 and it looks very nice. Those guys can also resurface/balance flywheels, & balance/polish your crank if you need those services.
