Default JSRC type R with CRV pulley = blown alternator in 1 week

Well I was pushing 8PSI instead of 10 and I couldnt figure out why, I suspected a lose belt.
So this moarning I went the my garage and tightened the alternato/crank belt since it was a bit lose....

When I started the car, it was making a loud noise like the superchager bering was seized.. I was shitting my pant and didnt know what was going on...or where the noise was comming from..

and 5 min we came to the conclusion that the noise was comming from the alternator and my tunner said that the bering was going......

So I went for a drive and as soon as I boosted the belt came right off....
but now I can turn the supercharger/alternator belt by hand no problem. and it seems smooth.. but my tunner says for sure that its the alternator was screwed!

Is this a normal problem? Ive only had the pulley on for 2 weeks?

ITR alternators ar weak!! My went a couple of months ago too...SGT told me that it was pretty common on R's. The alternaters suck.

not a lot...but they can't take too much abuse....don't know how different they are from GSRs or Civics, but I know that the ITR ones are weak...might wanna hit SGT up and see what he suggests.

I can't tell from your description, but I bet the sound was the belt shredding not the alternator bearing. I had a belt shred on me. The noise sounded so bad I about crapped my pants. I thought it was a bearing also, but it was just the belt making an awful noise. I've never heard that the Type-R alternators were weak.

Ask Sgt; he should know. Let us know what he said.

The B20 crank pulley is smaller than the other b-series pulleys. So, it will burn out the Teg Alt. You either need to get an alternater for a crv or get B-series pulley.

edit: Now that I think of it my B20Z came with a small puley, but my brothers JDM B20B came with a regular b-series pulley. It's either a USDM vs JDM thing or a Z vs B thing.

We found the problem, It was just the bracket that holds the alternator in place that became loose and was vibrating like crazy!

but my supercharger belt was finished so we changed that at the same time!

but im still only getting 8-9PSI on the gauge!! I want 10... whats going on!

while you have the alternator pulley off machine it down a little bit. Nearly any machine shop should have a lathe and the means to do it.

Thats normal for an ITR.

The stock blower pulley is 5.5PSI. The CRV pulley should effectively raise you to around 8-9PSI.
