jrsc pros and cons?
I hear all you guys talking about your turbos and all and im thinking about JRSC on my 99 si, i was just wondering what are some pros and cons to the JRSC to a gready or a drag kit??? I know you probably get this question alot and stuff but i really dont know everything about forced induction and stuff so any info at all would help, thanks alot.
read this it might help http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/marc-jrsc-after.html
That article has been posted around a bit too much. There's a lot more people been boostin happily with a JRSC than have been unhappy. I'm currently running a JRSC on my 98 GSR, decent power throughout the rpm's, reminds me a lot of my H22 swapped civic I used to own. 2 biggest questions I would say you need to consider to help decide between JRSC and turbo are:
1. Are you going to do your own work or have the money to have someone work rather frequently on your car?
2. Do you want to make your SI go faster than mid to low 13's in the quarter mile?
If "yes" to both questions go turbo, you'll most likely be dissappointed in the JRSC
If "no" to both questions go for the JRSC you should be quite satisfied.
Just my $.02

The JRSC is not all that bad.
Sure it's going to be not as fast or develop as much HP as these turbo guys, but it is still fun as hell. Get a used one, the $3,200 that they sell for new is retarded and there pricing themselfs out of the market I got mine for $1750 shipped.
What i say is -
If you plan on hitting the races every friday night and want to win, go turbo.
If you want a car that still basicly drives like stock untill you want some power (read: a ricemobile wont leave you alone), get a JRSC.

If you think you'll never want more than 8psi you'll love the supercharger.
You'll hate buying new tires though.
buy my supercharger --good deal !

A b16 or b18c would be great motors to start with and give you stock reliability.
I'd look into that before I put a jrsc on an sohc.
if $ is not an issue DOHC swap is the best way to go... since i just want to spend as least as possible yet being reliable and stock... JRSC seems pretty good to me if i ca get one at $1000 used.
i dont race nor will be racing.. just want a bit more of juice at the wheels.

either an LS swap or the blower would be a good idea for you then. but you will prob be happier with a swap. for that motor to have a blower is not saying much, i had one on my LS and it did exactly what my car needed... low end torque. but def look for a used one if you go that route.
