JRSC plug gap and belt question?s al
Hi,
I've got 1step colder plugs already,
but I know with turbo setups people often set their plug gap really wide,
should I do something similar with my jrsc?
I'm running a d15b vtec, and will be running the stock 6psi for now.
what plug gap would be good to run?
Also, I've been hunting for a replacement belt,
and I got one that is CLOSE, its a couple inches shorter than the original sc belt.
Will I still be able to use it? Just set the belt tensioner to compensate or something?
thanks!

run the stock plug gap for now.
Unless you are able to read a plug, or have a reason to change it, don't mess with it.
As for the belt, get anything that will fit in there, and doesn't max out the tensioner. For example, if you're running an 880mm belt, and your tensioner is maxed out to the tightest setting, go with an 870mm or 860mm.

Under boost you will want to tighten the plug gap so the spark will not be "Blown" out by the inconing boost. I would suggest a .020 to .023" gap to be safe and make sure you are able to spark under full booost and high in the RPM band.

Is it probable that he'll see blowout at 6psi?
I know at 9psi with high CR I didn't have a single problem with plugs, and I ran them just a hair over stock gap.

stock gap on the d15 is .044"
Tell me why you think that cutting the gap nearly in half is going to help in a low boost situation?

hmm ok,
so basically at high boost levels the boost can actually blow out the spark if the gap is too big.
so I'm running the stock .04" gap right now,
due to my lowboost level i might want it a BIT tigher, like .035 or something?

Re: (Tad)
there is no power made with a smaller gap. I've run 6psi with .05 gap before and it ran like a champ. Regapped to 0.034 and the butt dyno said it was slower. You want to run the BIGGEST gap possible without having ignition problems, getting the spark "blown out".
if you are gapped at stock now and the car runs fine, then leave it alone. People only make the gap smaller when they run into ignition problems, or when the forum told them they are supposed to because they are boosted. Atleast this is how I see it...

ah, well that sounds logical to me.
I'm in the install process,
so I dont know how it will be yet,
so just wanted to know what to set it to.
I'll leave it at stock for now.
