jrsc on a b16a?
I am playing with the idea of putting a jsrc on my b16a. What i am wanting to know is with the stock pulley on the charger will i need to build my block? And one more thing how is the clearance on a 4th gen 4 door with a b16a and that kit. Is it a tight fit? Will i have to do any cutting, banging or anything to that effect. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

With the stock pulley you don't need to build the block. My advice is to run it with a hondata and 440cc injectors and it should be reliable as hell as long as you don't have any belt or fitment issues.
I had a jrsc in a 00 Civic si and there were no fitment problems, but I couldn't tell you about a fourth gen civic.

Yea i was thinking of going with a turbo kit but turbo kits are so much more money than a supercharger. And if i ran a turbo i would want to boost higher which would mean i would have to build the block, which cost more money.

well if a fourth gen civic is 88-91 (i get that confused....i'm used to crx terminology ) then it should fit. what kind of motor mounts are you using? if you're using hasport, then i guarantee it will work, because that is my setup. check my sig to see whats involved on this particular install. as stated above, if you go hondata, you will have no reason to worry about blowing up a stock motor on the stock pulley. i've talked to john at LHT (he makes intercoolers for the JRSC) and he says the b16's are reliable to 10 psi easily (thats intercooled of course, but 6psi non intercooled would be way less stress). let me know if you have any questions.

i did not have a before dyno, but i think people estimate the B16A swap to be around 135 WHP. after, i dynoed a max of 183 WHP. so thats almost 50HP. it has one hell of a torque curve though - or should i say line. heres the link: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=659945
i've heard of the same setup making up to 200 WHP with hondata.....so that goes to show if you wanna pay the extra $800+ over the hack method, you can gain more power but i cant justify that. i plan to intercool down the road and up the boost to 10psi.

Hasport as said above, no issues. Good Luck, I loved my JRSC.
BTW...I've got some 440's (used for 2 months, I only want 210 for them) for sale if you want to go the HONDATA, 440 route...it made a world of difference on my car.

2600 shipped for the type r kit (includes fuel pump....i sold the pump and the FMU brand new, so the kit was more around 2450).
