JB Weld Sucks !
I did my turbo install over the weekend and had a bad experience with Ghetto welding.
JB'd my oil pan - broke when I tried to screw on my oil line
JB'd some brackets that hold my intercooler to my bumper support - broke right away !
There are too many other things to dick around with to have to put up with this crap. I went to get both of these things welded and would have saved myself time if I would have known how bad this stuff works on anything less than a perfectly prepared surface.... And yes, I did mix it right.
Moral of the story...... DO NOT USE JB Weld ON ANYTHING
Just my .02

Re: JB Weld Sucks ! (brkrnu)
no offense, but I have used JB Weld on many things over the years, and its only broken a few times on me...
Broke on an exhaust manifold (was being used as a temp fix... lasted almost 2 months)
Other than that, only little stuff I can think of...
Did you use JB Weld or JB Qwik? How long did you let it setup for?

Jb weld is perfect for certain things, but anyone for uses it for their oil pan deserves the weld to break and their motor to die of oil starvation.

Exactly. Don't blame JB Weld for your decision to go ghetto instead of doing it the right way.

Re: JB Weld Sucks ! (VTC_CiViC)
the regular jb weld works great in the right applications...i personally have a welding place close to me that does awsome work so i wouldnt use it on something major (bov, i/c, oil pan, ect.) but for little things that are out of site and dont have a ton of pressure/strain on them it works good
EDIT: i see your in dayton...take your pan to d&m welding on arbor blv....its right up next to johnny mac. they charge a flat fee of $20 per hour so for 15min of welding it still is $20 but they do really good work, ive gone to them almost a dozen times and never had a complaint

Re: (Howitt)
Just have to do 2 things.
#1 Let the damn fitting sit for a day.
#2 use something to hold the fitting in from behind. Put the JB weld everywhere the fitting touchs the oil pan and fittng, then screw the other part on the fitting from the back ( inside the pan ), then just for "good mearsure" cover the rest of the area around the fitting ( inside and out ) with JB weld.
My retard dad tried to use it one time to fit a 1/8 gap between the #1 and #2 cylinder deck on my old 5.0, not a good idea... I guess he meant well...

Not necessarily true... My friend has a dodge shadow, and he JB Welded his BOV flange onto his charge pipe, and it held for 2+ years at 20+ Psi...
Its all in the application and the drying...

I've read of a guy (or team) who took 2 I4 engines from a motorcycle (think it was a Honda bike too) and JB Welded them together to make a V8 bike. Only the blocks were JB Welded together, the crank and other stuff like that was custom, but still, pretty impressive. But yes, on a daily driver, JB Weld has its place, and the oil pan is not the rigth place.
