Default J.G Pro Series Block problem.

Ok i have a J.G Pro Series block in my car and have about 3,000 miles on it. Broke the motor in on 5.5psi. Car astarted smoking after about 2500 miles when i turned up the boost. We did a compression test on the motor and all cylinders checked out around 160-165. Now heres the big problem when we did a leak down we found that the number 1 cylinder was at 20%, 2@10%, 3@30% and four was 10%. I don't think that i should have any leakage what so ever since the motor is brand new. I had the head checked and it's not warped or cracked either. I did have alot of oil in the intake manifold and when the car was running i was getting alot of smoke out of the breather on the valve cover. If anybody as any suggestions or similar problem please let me know. I still have the bottom end together and in the car. Thanks for taking the time to read this and help me out.

I was getting a little smoke coming out of my breather filter and a bit of oil that I would always find on my fuel rail. I never did a compression test or a leak down test although after i blew it I found that all four of my piston had pieces of the piston chiped off. Where the intake valves seat into the pistons, the outer walls are so thin there which makes it the weakest point. It caused a little blow by, nother major...yet!
If that does happen to be your problem, when you do buy a new set of pistons, take them to a machine shop and have them machine down the edges where the intake valves land. Not the entire edge, just the thinest part. It worked for me! Also call the piston manufacturer and get specs on how much you can machine. You don't wanna get to close to that first ring!

I had the same problem, and I found out that I had blown two rings.

another thing i forgot to say was i can move all four pistons side to side but not front to back. I don't think i should be able to move them at all....correct? I'm beginning to think i have to get another block and spend another $3,000 or so

i broke in the motor on 5.5psi with only wastegate no boost controller. I was running 1bar and it was spiking but was still driving before i decided to take the head off to find out why it was smoking. For fuel management i'm using 650 RC injectors with Hondata Stage 4B. If you need to know i also have aem fuel rail and Aeromotive fpr. And for oil i'm using Castrol 10w30. Block looks fine and so does the sleeves and cylinder walls two and three. Still haven't dropped oil pan and disconnected the rods yet.

What type of engine do you have? H22A, B18..etc. I'm having the same problem on my H22A JG Pro Series Block/engine. Must be JG's poor workmanship I guess. I am going to rebuild, but I'm still unsure what rings to use. I have Arias pistons & Saenze rods. Any advise in respect to rings would be greatly appreciated.

I have a b18c motor and i'm not sure what rings they used in my block. Javier told me he doesn't like Total Seals so i'm guessing their not total seal rings. I would really like to know why i can move all four pistons side to side and before i tore down the motor i had good compression on all four cylinders...just not making sense to me.

Are you sure the piston was moving side to side? Maybe you have pistons with floating piston pins.

So you boosted during break-in, sometimes up to 1 bar. Hmm maybe thats why the rings didn't seat and your smoking.

To really get to the bottom of the problem, you're going to have to pull the head and look at the bores and possibly re-ring.

My advice is to find the problem now instead of waiting for something really bad to happen.

You won't need a new block, based on your description.

Leaking down that bad, the motor isn't doing you much good.
