itr tranny in turbo LS?
I am thinking of doing this swap on my 98 turbo teg RS, I do love the long gearing, but I hear the rs tranny has more losses (hp and tq) than the itr tranny! is this true?
I did a run throught my simulator program (cartest) and inserted the hp and tq #'s from my dyno runs one with stock tranny and one with itr tanny and the itr was .2 sec faster ( i know not a big deal) and .8mph faster ( not a big deal also). the main reason I want it is for the fact I auto x the car and do some track days , the LSD of the itr will help me put the power down in those situations. I realize with the itr tranny, the motor will rev higher at the same speeds ( daily driving as it is a close ratio gearbox), and I will be chainging gears earlier.
Has anyone done this swap in a turbo car?Is this a worth while swap or is my RS tranny better fo F/I applications?????Plus I will need a new clutch by summer so a new tranny could be installed also. If I do this swap will a lightened flywheel be benificial?
thanks guys

you could probably acheive the same results with just a lightened flywheel and an LSD.. I dont really think you want to cruise at 4400rpm when going 75mph on the highway in your RS..

If you get the itr tranny, you'll want to get the itr flywheel, which is already lighter than what you have now.
You dont want the itr gearing for your rs, esp with a stock motor and boost.
Why would the itr tranny have less parasitic losses?

The LS tranny is the greatest for Turbo cars. The gear ratio are pretty nice. Right now i am running a gsr tranny, and at the end of the track I am in the iddle of 5th gear. Type R tranny's are usually for All motor cars..........

Re: itr tranny in turbo LS? (TurboLsVtec)
I dunno, the ITR gearing is kinda a pain in the *** on my turbo GSR but I DO love the LSD - all those stories about everyone having no traction through 2nd and most of 3rd gear don't make any sense to me. In my case I got the ITR tranny cheaper than I could buy a decent LSD and installation was way easier than pulling my tranny apart. Was a no-brainer.
