ITR cams vs BLOX B's for TURBO
Hi
I read a thread a while ago regarding Blox A and B cams for turbo - suggestions were made but no results were available
Im looking at upgrading my B16 cams on my LS/Vtec Turbo (B16A head) build
Seeing as the Blox cams and ITR cams retail in the same price range I was wondering which would be the best option to go with for a 550 whp target 81.5mm LS/Vtec
I am aware that Skunk2 PRO 1's are the ultimate cam but they are beyond my budget at this point
If there are any users of the above cams on Turbo applications please post them up and/or give feedback
Im looking for the best cams in the $300 - 350 price range

i would go with the blox b's and get there springs and retainers. Ur goal can be achieved with any cam above with the right tune, turbo, setup, and amount of boost.

Iam happy with my ITR cams. I think I may have the same set up as you. LS/Vtec... I picked up around 30-40whp without turning up the boost. Just my 2 cents.

our street car makes
525 WHP with ITR's on 23 psi on a T61 t4 turbo
when we swapped to blox B's it made 525 on only 19 psi . less boost and same turbo setup
also gained anywhere from 20 around the mid range
great cams !!!

My brother has Blox Type B's for his turbo set up. Great power at low boost.
Old set up with b16 cams it made 411whp at 17psi....just slapped on a 30r turbo from a 60-1 turbo and blox type b cams and it made 455whp at 15psi.

Which cams are you talking about? I see there are "BLOX Tuner Series, Type B Camshafts" and "BLOX Competition Series, Type B Camshafts"? Again, anyone compare these to the Skunk2 Tuner 1's?

The pro 1's are the ultimate but there not really streetable and they put excessive wear on valve train. its really a track car only cam. Nothign wrong with OEM ctr or itr. I run itr an dlove them. If i were to upgrade iw ould go with blox b or skunk2 tuner2

Pro-1's can be made it idle like stock and are streetable, they are just not for every setup like alot of people recommend... they do wear parts out faster, but in a performance street motor this is something that can be lived with IMO.
I am pretty sure on my old setup that I could of picked up almost 100whp at the same boost going from GSR Cams to Pro-1's, or a solid 50whp going from GSR to ITR, for that kind of increase (80-100whp on certain setups) I can deal with a little accelerated rocker wear with the Pro-1's.
Tuner2's are similar to Pro-1's but they dont really spool the Turbo any faster and make less power on the low cam.

Agreed ! The tuner2's are just not as aggressive on valve train wear but pretty much anything with alot of lift is going to wear items quicker than that of a stock itr/ctr cam profile
