Internally Gated anyone?
Is anyone here running Internally gated turbos, simular to a DSM setup with a low rpm spool(3000-3800rpm)? If so, post your setup and impression please...

Re: Internally Gated anyone? (-BEN-)
i'm running the following:
B18C/Y21 with open diff
straight T3, .48 turbine a/r, .60 compressor (80's ford t-bird)
log style manifold
2.5" DP to 2.25" exhaust
21x9x3 tube & fin intercooler
makes very good power by 3000RPM, and behaves like most factory turbo four's (i.e. VW GTI 1.8T). power doesn't fall off at redline, but after 4000RPM it doesn't get much better. it could use a .63 turbine housing, but i cannot seem to find one. maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
this is a killer autocross setup. with the short second gear i never have to downshift to first and the car is extremely fast on low speed corner exits. on the street it makes power in any gear, any speed (within reason). shooting for holes in traffic is a breeze. i don't understand why more people don't use this turbo. it's half the price of a new t3/t4, wastegate included. all told my setup probably cost me just over a thousand dollars.

hks gt2510(basically a garret gt25 ball bearing)
COMPRESSOR:
-Wheel- 63 Trim - 47.7 Inducer / 60.1 Major
-Housing- 60 Inlet / 50 Outlet - 0.60 A/R
TURBINE:
-Wheel- 62 Trim - 53.0 Major / 41.7 Exducer
-Housing- GT25 inlet / Internal GT25 oulet - 0.64 A/R
on d16y7
log manifold
3" downpipe to 2.25 exhaust
spools at 3000 and doesnt die off
havent tuned yet, so i cant say its perfect at the moment, but it does pull nicely
it was built to be a good track setup, i dont need 600hp.....
so far the internal gate has not given me one problem at all....steady boost, no spike.

Re: Internally Gated anyone? (roydogg)
stock d16z6
uberdata
tubular manifold
2.5" DP and exhaust
TXS mbc
7x21 IC
Straight T3 turbo with a 50trim compressor with a ported .42 a/r cover.
Standard turbine wheel with a .63 a/r housing. The WG housing is heavily ported.
I get 10psi at about 3100 and it pulls hard from 4000 to 7300. It holds 10-10.5 all the way up and makes 5psi by 2500 rpm. I love it. It feels like a big NA motor once you are in boost, which is often when i'm behind the wheel. It is fantastic for Auto-x and backroad ripping.

I've ran 11.52 @ 127 on an internally gates SCM61 in my street car (DSM). No boost control issues at all unless I try to run under 15psi. Which I never do.

Re: Internally Gated anyone? (Bloodline)
Glad to hear people are running this setup. I used to have a DSM myself, and i liked the low rpm spool. I have always wondered why people didnt run this on their street hondas. With the power in the midrange, it seems the car would put really hard. With vtec crossover in the 5k-6k range, the car would be a beast within that range with 250-300hp, making it the perfect setup for someone who would only want 250-300hp.
AGP used to make a turbo called the L2R, which was basically a makeup of a 60-1 with a 4" inlet housing that was internally gated which would bolt up to a stock DSM exhaust manifold. I wanted to put one of these on my old b18c hatch badly.
